Appellants Joseph Bryant, John Cagnina, and Terry Lee Alvarez were convicted by a jury of tampering with a vessel of the United States with the intent to injure or endanger the safety of the vessel in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 2275. On appeal they contend that § 2275 applies only to "commercial vessels" and not the private sailboat they were using, that the evidence was insufficient to sustain...
