Gilberto Araiza was indicted by a federal grand jury on four counts for alleged violations arising out of a scheme to import marijuana into the United States from Mexico. On March 3, 1982, Araiza pled guilty to Count One, conspiracy to import marijuana in violation of 21 U.S.C. § 963 and § 952(a), and to Count Two, importing 907 pounds of marijuana in violation of 21 U.S.C. § 952(a) and 18 U.S.C. § 2.
