Certain passengers were within the scope of their employment when killed in the crash of a Pacific Southwest Airlines (PSA) aircraft. Decedents left no dependents.

Associated Indemnity Corporation and American Insurance Company provided worker's compensation insurance for the decedents' employers, and sued PSA to recover $182,736.32 which they paid to the state pursuant to Labor Code section 4706.5, subdivision...
