GODFREY, Justice.

The defendant, Constance Doody, lived with her husband, Michael Doody, in Caribou. Their relationship with Norma Bennett, Constance's mother, was dominated by frustration, anger, and hatred. On the night of October 7, 1979, Norma Bennett was shot and killed at her trailer home. Constance was not present at the scene, but Michael was.
