This is an action for medical malpractice. Plaintiff alleged that defendants, physicians and surgeons,1 were negligent in their treatment of him. Specifically, plaintiff alleged that defendants failed to exercise the necessary degree of skill and care during an operation to remove a herniated disc from his upper spine and that as a result he suffered paralysis in his arms and hands.
