Defendant and codefendant, Robert Mendez, were convicted of murdering Mario Hernandez on evidence that was, in the main, circumstantial. Our dissenting colleagues would reverse defendant's conviction on the ground that certain testimony was improperly admitted at trial. However, the dissent does concede that Melendez' counsel on cross-examination of Detective Alexis, the investigating officer, questioned this witness concerning whether Jesus Marrero was considered a suspect...
