After a bench trial in the Superior Court, Penobscot County, the defendant, John Myrick, was found guilty of violating 15 M.R.S.A. § 393 (1980),1 a class C crime, which prohibits a person who has been convicted of a crime punishable by one year or more imprisonment from owning or having in his possession or under his control any firearm.
