Defendant appeals his conviction of first degree murder. There are eight assignments of error.

The State presented evidence that in August 1977, the defendant confessed to his friend, Mr. Hendershott, that he had murdered a hitchhiker. Over a period of 3 days, he related the incident in some detail, telling Hendershott that he drank beer with her behind Mariner High School, he became angered when his sexual advances were rejected, he tried to appease...
