The defendant, Michael Mormon, was charged by information with armed robbery (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1977, ch. 38, par. 18-2), rape (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1977, ch. 38, par. 11-1), deviate sexual assault (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1977, ch. 38, par. 11-3), and two counts of armed violence (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1977, ch. 38, par. 33A-2), one based on rape and the other on armed robbery...
