On November 1, 1979, a Bristol County jury1 convicted the defendant of manslaughter, G.L.c. 265, § 13, in the death of Jennifer Lisa Gallison, age two. He was found guilty, as well, of two counts of failure to provide care for a minor, G.L.c. 278, § 1, and of unlawful disposition of a human body, G.L.c. 114, § 43M.
