The defendant was indicted and convicted for the offense of obtaining personal property by false pretenses in violation of Alabama Code 1975, Section 13-3-90. The property consisted of various roofing materials of a value fixed by the jury at $2,028.46. Sentence was ten years' imprisonment—the maximum punishment allowed by law.
