The defendant, Latour, and one Frederick Goodman were indicted under G.L.c. 268 A, § 2, for attempting to influence the vote of Lynn City Councillor Robert Tucker in the election of a municipal officer through the payment of money. Following a jury trial, which was held in October, 1977, the defendant and Goodman were convicted and sentenced.
