In the early morning hours of January 11, 1979, appellant forced a young woman's car off the Maricopa Freeway, dragged her from her car and struck her in the head with a tire iron when she shouted for help. He then drove her to a secluded desert area where he sexually assaulted her. Appellant was convicted by a jury of kidnapping with intent to commit sexual assault, a class two felony, in violation of A.R.S. §§ 13...
