To indictments charging assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon (golf club) (G.L.c. 265, § 15A), and deriving support from the earnings of a prostitute (G.L.c. 272, § 7), the defendant pleaded not guilty; he was tried and found guilty by a jury. The jury's inability to agree resulted in a mistrial of an indictment for statutory rape (G.L.c. 265, § 23) of the same female child (victim) who was the object of the other two offenses...
