Thomas L. White was discharged on March 6, 1979, from his employment by petitioner, The American University, for job abandonment. Subsequently, White filed a claim for unemployment compensation benefits with the Office of Unemployment Compensation. The Claims Deputy determined that White's discharge was for employee misconduct and disqualified him from benefits for thirteen weeks pursuant to D.C.Code 1980 Supp., § 46-310(b).
