The issue in this case is whether the defendant in a probation-revocation hearing has the right to confront and cross-examine the witnesses against him. Here, the crucial evidence against the probationer was presented in the form of hearsay testimony. The State made no attempt either to subpoena the witnesses or to make any valid excuse for their absence.
