On May 26, 1978, JoAnne Avilez (hereinafter "Avilez"), plaintiff-appellee, struck her hand through a glass door at her home and was admitted to South Jefferson General Hospital (hereinafter "South Jefferson"), for surgery and skin graft to her hand. After the operation, Avilez was returned to her hospital room for the usual post-operative treatment. At approximately 6:00 o'clock A.M. the following morning, plaintiff awoke and went to the bathroom...
