The defendant Lloyd B. Johnson, Sheriff of St. John the Baptist Parish, stands indicted by the grand jury of that parish for violation of the election code. R.S. 18:1461(A)(17).1 The charge results from an investigation undertaken by the district attorney of the parish at the suggestion of the sheriff, who alleged in a letter published in the newspaper that certain offenses had been committed...
