An investigation surrounding the disappearance of John H. Patterson around March 2, 1974, led to defendant, who was questioned by the police. On March 11, 1974, defendant was arrested and charged with armed robbery in Ontario, Canada, which fact was made known to the authorities in Shiawassee County on March 13, 1974.
