In this highway expropriation case the State of Louisiana, Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), has taken 9,954.2 square feet of the defendants' tract of land fronting on Eraste Landry Road in the city of Lafayette.1 There appears to be a difference as to the area of the original lot, but the trial judge found that it contained 29,917 square feet and after the taking there remained 19,963 square feet, 1049...
