This is a diversity case to be decided under Louisiana law. It involves a branch of the cattle industry that has experienced strong growth in recent years — the breeding of exotic breeds. Because the market for exotic breeds declined significantly in 1975, the defendant was unable to pay the plaintiff for over 500 head of Maine-Anjou cattle he had purchased just before the decline.
