OPINION

CLINTON, Judge.

This is an appeal from a conviction for felony theft in which the punishment, enhanced by two prior felony convictions alleged and proven, was assessed at life confinement. This opinion also involves a postconviction petition for writ of habeas corpus pursuant to Article 11.07, V.A.C.C.P., which was filed during the pendency of the appeal of the theft conviction.
