The question on appeal is whether appellant made a false declaration in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 16231 during the process of plea bargaining another charge. Appellant, indicted for mail fraud, had initially pleaded guilty; upon entering the plea, she was asked by the court: "Do you, in fact, admit that you are guilty of the crime charged ...?"
