Plaintiff Joanne Hill's farm house and personal property were destroyed by a fire allegedly caused by defendant Sears' negligent repair of the Hill furnace. The property was insured in part by plaintiff Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company which, as subrogee of Hill, initiated an action against Sears to recover the $26,850 it paid out for the fire loss.
