Following a bench trial defendant-appellant Ronald W. Floyd was convicted of leaving the scene of an accident, IC 1971, 9-4-1-40 (1979 Burns Supp.); driving while intoxicated, IC 1971, 9-4-1-54 (1979 Burns Supp.); and driving while license suspended, IC 1971, 9-1-4-52 (1979 Burns Supp.). In each of these offenses it was essential for the State to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant drove or operated a motor vehicle at the time in question...
