The defendant was convicted in 1976 in the Municipal Court of the City of Boston on two complaints: one charging him with the crime of carrying a firearm on his person in violation of G.L.c. 269, § 10, and the other charging him with the crime of possession of a firearm the serial number of which was defaced in violation of G.L.c. 269, § 11C.
