The defendant was convicted after trial to the court of selling a used car without a valid "certificate of approval," or safety inspection, in violation of K.S.A. 1979 Supp. 8-1758(a)(6). He was fined $100, with the fine being suspended, placed on six months' unsupervised probation, and ordered to pay the $137.00 required to bring the vehicle into conformity with state safety regulations.
