ROVIRA, Justice.

The petitioner brought this original proceeding pursuant to C.A.R. 21, alleging that his statutory right to a speedy trial1 has been denied, and seeking relief in the nature of prohibition. We issued a rule to show cause and now make the rule absolute.

The petitioner was arrested on charges of class 4 felony fraud by check. See sections 18-5-205(2) and (3)(c), C.R.S. 1973 (1978 Repl. Vol. 8). A preliminary hearing...
