BAZELON, Senior Circuit Judge:

David Shelton appeals from a jury verdict finding him guilty of assaulting a federal officer.1 He argues that the district court erred in permitting the prosecutor to conduct a line of cross-examination which he contends was both improper and prejudicial. We agree. Therefore, we reverse.
