In Peterson v. Stanek, plaintiff Mitchell Peterson was allegedly injured in a May 26, 1975, accident involving the car he was driving and the car defendant Stanek was driving. He and his wife brought a negligence action against Stanek, and also against the State of Minnesota, based on the alleged "negligent, careless and unsafe design, construction, and maintenance of the intersection" where the accident occurred.
