This is an appeal from a conviction of unlawful use of a weapon. K.S.A. 1979 Supp. 21-4201.

Defendant and a friend, Richard Kresin, held commissions as special deputies with the Wyandotte County Sheriff's office. Additionally, Kresin was employed as a school security guard while defendant worked as a fire fighter.
