Chadwick brought suit to recover under an automobile insurance policy issued by State Farm for the total destruction of his automobile in a collision. He alleged that its fair market value immediately prior to the collision was $1,650 and immediately after the collision was $100 which, after subtracting the $100 deductible, amounted to a loss of $1,450.
