The issue in this libel case is whether the defendant should be required to disclose the source of its information. We hold that it should.

The plaintiff was a public official at the time of the alleged libel. The plaintiff, then chief of police, claimed to have sustained a gunshot wound on April 3, 1975, while checking on a residence in Boscawen. An investigation ensued during which the defendant published several articles about the incident...
