Plaintiff Richard E. White and the decedent William Robbins Chase, an unmarried man, were involved in an automobile accident on July 9, 1973, as a result of which White suffered personal injuries. At the time of the accident, the deceased was insured under a liability insurance policy which protected him against liability for the accident.
