After a bench trial, defendant Ulysses Gloster was convicted of attempt murder and was sentenced to a term of 4 to 12 years' imprisonment. The conviction was affirmed (People v. Gloster (1976), 42 Ill.App.3d 1074) by order under Supreme Court Rule 23 (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1975, ch. 110A, par. 23). Defendant then filed a pro se post-conviction petition (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1977...
