Richard J. Roe, Sr. (defendant) was found guilty after a bifurcated jury trial,1 of the first-degree murder2 of James Armbruster. He was found not to have had at the time of the shooting a mental disease or defect so as to lack "substantial capacity either to appreciate the wrongfulness of his conduct or conform his conduct to the requirements of the law....
