The defendant Edward Maffei appeals from the judgment of the Circuit Court of Rock Island County (entered after a bench trial) finding him guilty of possession of 1.5 grams of a controlled substance (valium). (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1977, ch. 56 1/2, par. 1402(b).) The defendant was sentenced to 2 years in the penitentiary by the court.
