The defendant, Alan Greer, was charged in separate informations with the murders of Sharon Moss and her 8 1/2-month-old fetus. He was found guilty of both murders by a jury in the circuit court of Massac County and was sentenced to death. The case is before us on direct appeal. Ill. Const. 1970, art. VI, sec. 4(b).
