ROBERTS, Justice.

The plaintiffs are owners of two corner lots in Saco. These lots are located between the parallel streets of Fairhaven and Beacon Avenues and enjoy a common rear boundary. Both plots of land abut Seaside Avenue.

After simultaneous purchase of the residential lots in 1956, the plaintiffs immediately built a house on the lot abutting on Fairhaven Avenue. When Saco's zoning ordinance was adopted in 1968, the lots were deemed substandard in area...
