DANHOF, C.J.

Following a jury trial, defendant was convicted of second-degree murder, MCL 750.317; MSA 28.549, on September 1, 1978. On December 26, 1978, he was sentenced to life imprisonment. He appeals as of right.

Defendant was originally charged with first-degree murder on the theory that he aided and abetted his friend, Steve Massias, in a premeditated plot to kill Massias's ex-girlfriend, Karen "Katy" Taylor.
