The parties were married in 1940 and separated in 1964. This dissolution proceeding was commenced on August 2, 1978. Six children were born of the marriage. When the husband left the family home in 1964 there were three sons still at home: one in the seventh grade, one in the ninth grade, and one in the tenth grade.
