On January 5, 1979, Ralph Holmes, Jr., Robert Williams and Permella Williams participated in an armed robbery of an A & P Food Store in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. During the robbery, Robert Williams shot the security guard in the face, at close range, with a sawed-off shotgun. He was instantly killed. The assistant manager and a customer were shot in the foot by the same shotgun, and one customer was pistol-whipped...
