NEWSOM, J.

The appellant McGowan's appeal is from a judgment entered upon jury verdicts finding him guilty of robbery and assault with intent to commit rape. He makes no challenge to the substantiality of the evidence of his guilt, which is indeed overwhelming. A very brief recapitulation of the factual background will accordingly suffice.
