This is an appeal from a judgment awarding Chester Benben (Benben) $258,400.00 in damages for personal injuries received in an accident which occurred on September 27, 1976 while he was working as the Chief Mate on board the Howell Lykes, a cargo vessel owned and operated by Lykes Brothers Steamship Co., Inc.
