Defendant, Lawrence Burkhalter, was convicted of neglect of a dependent, Ind. Code § 35-46-1-4 (Burns 1979 Repl.); battery, Ind. Code § 35-42-2-1 (Burns 1979 Repl.); and murder, Ind. Code § 35-42-1-1 (Burns 1979 Repl.). Defendant was given no sentence on the battery conviction.
