Appellant was convicted of rape. The court fixed his punishment at ninety-nine years imprisonment in the penitentiary and sentenced him accordingly.

The victim was an eleven-year-old girl. According to her testimony, she and her twelve-year-old brother went to a grocery store in Decatur about three or four o'clock in the afternoon of July 21, 1978. Each had ridden a bicycle to the store; her brother went into the store...
