The Grand Jury of Terrebonne Parish charged Norman P. Billiot with the first degree murder on November 13, 1975, of Herbert Charles "Irby" Bergeron. After trial by a jury of twelve he was found guilty as charged and sentenced to imprisonment at hard labor for life, without benefit of probation, parole or suspension of sentence for 40 years.
