The defendant was convicted by a jury of criminal sexual conduct in the third degree, MCL 750.520(d)(1); MSA 28.788(4)(1), and was sentenced to a term of imprisonment from 4 to 15 years.

The 14-year-old alleged victim in this matter, as a result of apparent peer group pressures and inner dilemmas which we only speculate about, visited the prosecutor on the day before trial was to begin. She...
