The appellant, Kenneth Eugene Reed, stands convicted of first-degree murder and first-degree robbery.

The facts leading up to these convictions are as follows: In April 1977, the victim, Tim Joy, was in need of a laborer on his farm located near the Colville Indian Reservation.
