Appellant was charged with stabbing his mother to death. In May, 1974, appellant was adjudged incompetent to stand trial and committed to a state institution. In March, 1977, a psychiatric report pronounced appellant competent to stand trial. Trial began on September 21, 1977, and on September 30, 1977, a jury convicted appellant of murder of the first degree and possession of an instrument...
